Thousand dollar socks are latest travel necessity
Hip hosiery for well-heeled travelers
Greenville, S.C. -- After seven years in development,
Skivvy Solutions, Inc.
announced here today that it has brought to market the ultimate in travel
apparel: TripSox.
These are no ordinary socks.
Prevent Deep Venous Thrombosis
TripSox are manufactured of a high-strength lycra/polyester
blend material infused with special chemical compounds that react with
heat from the skin to alternately contract and expand the fibers in the
socks. These "nano-muscles"
prevent the pooling of blood in the lower legs of the wearer, thereby averting
Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT)—often referred to as Ecomony Class
Syndrome.
Reduce jet-lag
Also imbedded in the socks are tiny Global Positioning Satellite (GPS)
receivers that can locate the wearer anywhere in the world. Every time
the wearer crosses a time zone, it is sensed by the GPS receiver and a
small amount of sleep-adjusting chemical is released through the fabric
and absorbed through the skin. Depending on the direction the wearer is
traveling, a dose of either subothaine (for east-bound travelers)
or quentelene (for west-bound travelers) is released.

Deter dehydration
Finally, unlike most socks, which are designed to wick moisture away from
the feet, TripSox do just the opposite. Before putting on a pair of
TripSox, the wearer soaks them overnight in a pail of water where
microcapsules in the fabric absorb up to 165 times their weight in water. This moisture
is then slowly released over the next 12 to 14 hours, helping to keep their wearers hydrated,
especially in the dry air of commercial airliners.
TripSox come in a variety of fashion styles (pictured above is the
men's athletic model) and are available in both men's and women's sizes.
Each pair of TripSox retails for US$997.95 and can be purchased at
travel apparel specialty stores or, for bulk purchases, from the Travel Fox
wholesale outlet.
